GAME DAY: Cougars vs. Giants (Pre-Season)

The Prince George Cougars continue their pre-season with a trip to Langley to face their B.C. Division rivals, Vancouver Giants. Vancouver is hosting a four-team tournament, with Everett and Victoria the other two teams involved.

The Cougars started their 2018 pre-season schedule with a split in the Okanagan last weekend, losing 5-0 in Kamloops Friday, but rebounding to beat Kelowna 4-2 on Saturday. That was a younger Cougars squad, that featured quite a few prospects and rookies. This weekend the Cougars are fielding a much more veteran laden line-up. Those who didn’t dress last weekend have made the trip to Langley.

Two key pieces that aren’t with the team are Joel Lakusta and Jackson Leppard, as they both are at NHL Rookie Tournaments. Lakusta is in Traverse City, Michigan, with the St. Louis Blues, who are playing in the annual Traverse City Rookie Tournament. Leppard is down in Estero, Florida, with the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are hosting a Rookie Tournament that also features the Nashville Predators and Washington Capitals.

The Giants suffered their first regulation lossĀ of the pre-season Friday, dropping a 5-3 decision to the Royals. Through four pre-season games they’re 2-1-0-1. They face the Everett Silvertips at 4 pm tomorrow.

After tonight, the Cougars square-off against the Royals at 12 pm tomorrow. They wrap up their pre-season schedule next Saturday, September 15th, at home against the Kamloops Blazers.
