4 Cougars To Attend NHL Camps

PRINCE GEORGE BC – The Prince George Cougars have announced that Tyler Brennan, Keaton Dowhaniuk, Ethan Samson, and Ty Young will all be attending NHL Rookie Camps.
Brennan, 18, will attend the New Jersey Devils Camp. The Winnipeg, MB product heard his name called at the 2022 NHL draft by the Devils, being selected in the fourth round and 102nd overall. Brennan attended the Devils Summer Camp and the Canadian World Junior Camp this past summer.
Dowhaniuk, 18, will attend Arizona Coyotes Camp. The Sherwood Park, AB native attended Edmonton Oilers Summer Camp this past July. Originally, Dowhaniuk was the third overall pick in the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft. The 6’1 defender has played 94 games a Cougar, while collecting 31 points in that span (4G-27A).
Samson, 19, will attend Philadelphia Flyers camp. Samson is a 2021 6th round pick by the Flyers and is attending his second Flyers rookie camp in as many years. The North Delta product is coming off his best season as a Cougar, finishing with 43 points in 68 games (15G-28A). Samson was originally a 2018 3rd round pick by the Cats in the WHL Prospects Draft.
Young, 18, will be attending Vancouver Canucks camp. The netminder from Coaldale, AB got drafted by the Canucks this past summer in the fifth round, and 144th overall. Heading into the draft, Young was ranked as the #6 goaltender in North America by NHL Central Scouting. Young was originally an eighth-round pick by the Cats in the 2019 WHL Prospect’s Draft. Young will also be participating in the Canucks Young Stars Classic this weekend at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton.
The Cougars pre-season schedule wraps up this weekend with a pair of contests against the Kamloops Blazers. Friday September 16th, the Cougars will visit the Blazers, which will be followed by another contest on Saturday September 17th between the BC division rivals at CN Centre at 6:00 PM.
