Cougars’ Prospects Report: Playoff Update

The Prince George Cougars are in the middle of a playoff race, as they chase the Seattle Thunderbirds for the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference, and their prospect’s leagues are in full swing.

Below is a list of the Cougars’ prospects on their 50-man protected list, who are in the playoffs or just finished their playoff runs in their respective leagues.

Alberta Junior Hockey League

Kent Anderson (’03), Defenceman- Drumheller Dragons

Regular Season: GP 56 4-19-23

Playoffs: GP 5 1-3-4

Note: Drumheller to face the Brooks Bandits in the AJHL’s South Division semi-final.

 

Sam Schoenfeld, (’02), Defenceman- Camrose Kodiaks

Regular Season: GP 51 2-8-10

Playoffs: GP 5 0-2-2

Note: Kodiaks lead their best-of-seven AJHL South Division quarter-final 3-2 over the Canmore Eagles.

 

British Columbia Hockey League

Brody Gagno (’02), Defenceman- Chilliwack Chiefs

Regular Season: GP 50 3-6-9

Playoffs: GP  1-0-1

Note: The Surrey Eagles defeated the Chiefs 4-3 in their first-round series.

Hudson Thornton (’03), Defenceman- Chilliwack Chiefs

Regular Season: GP 54 6-11-17

Playoffs: GP 7 0-1-1

 

Jack O’Brien (’03), Defenceman- Nanaimo Clippers

Regular Season: GP 54 1-4-5

Playoffs: GP 4 0-0-0

Note: The Clippers swept the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in their first-round match up. They face the Cowichan Valley Capitals in the second round.

 

Logan Terness (’02), Goaltender- Trail Smoke Eaters

Regular Season: GP 44 27-10 / 2.36 GAA / .932 SV% / 1 SO

Playoffs: GP 4 4-0 / 0.73 GAA / .970 SV% / 1 SO

Note: Terness was named the BCHL Rookie of the Year. The Smoke Eaters swept the Prince George Spruce Kings in their first-round match up. They face Salmon Arm in the second round

 

Alberta AAA Midget Hockey League

Ty Young (’04), Goaltender- Lethbridge Hurricanes
