Cougars to participate in Candy Cruise Prince George

The Prince George Cougars are excited to announce they are participating in the inaugural Candy Cruise Prince George on Halloween night. The Cougars have partnered with Aaron Switzer of RE/MAX Centre City Realty to bring Candy Cruise Prince George to the CN Centre. The event starts at 4:30 pm on Saturday, October 31st.

Candy Cruise Prince George, organized by Dave Horton, was specifically created to ensure families have a safe, pandemic-friendly Halloween alternative. Instead of the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating like in years past, Candy Cruise Prince George is a drive-thru format at 10 locations around the city. The CN Centre is one hub location, which will feature the Cougars and Aaron Switzer, KKS Tactical Supplies, Central Fellowship Baptist Church, and Westwood Mennonite Brethren Church.

At each hub, businesses will have their own drive-thru booth and will be handing out candy and treats to families in their vehicles, all while practicing proper physical distancing measures. Every booth will be decorated and designed to give a unique Halloween experience. Aaron Switzer has graciously donated all the candy for the Cougars’ booth. Rowdy Cat and Cougars’ players will be on hand as well to hand out candy.

“We ‘re very happy to be supporting our community and helping to make Halloween something extra special for everyone during these challenging times,” said Cougars’ Vice President, Business Andy Beesley. “We are very appreciative of Dave Horton coming up with this great idea, as well as Aaron Switzer who so quickly partnered with us.”

The Cougars and Aaron Switzer are also putting on a Halloween costume contest. Take a photo of you or your family’s best costume and post on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), tag the Cougars and use the hashtag #CougarsHalloween. One lucky winner will win a $250 Canadian Tire gift card, courtesy of Aaron Switzer and a Cougars merchandise prize back.

Instead of purchasing and handing out candy, families and households are encouraged to donate towards this event. Funds raised will go towards helping participating organizations purchase candy, and all additional funds will be donated to three local charities in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC, The Child Development Centre, and Ness Lake Bible Camp.
