Cougars Unveil Oktoberfest Jerseys

The Cougars jerseys on Saturday, October 19th are going to look… wunderbar! The Cougars will be wearing specialty Oktoberfest themed jerseys for their Oktoberfest game against the Spokane Chiefs on next Saturday.

Designed by Taylor Vause of Full Stride Designs, the Cougars’ Oktoberfest jerseys feature incredible details to make them look authentic as possible while still maintaining the integrity of a hockey jersey. The special event jerseys are inspired by lederhosen, which is a traditional outfit in German-speaking countries and synonymous with Oktoberfest celebrations.

The filigree on the front lower panel is designed after the shape of the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako rivers.

The details in the Cougars’ Oktoberfest jersey are truly unique to Prince George. On the lower front panel, the filigree pattern is shaped after the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako rivers, which are located within the city limits of Prince George. There are 26 leaves on the filigree pattern, representing the 26 years the Cougars have been in Prince George.  Every faux-button on the lederhosen and pinstriped shirt has its own unique design to emulate the buckhorn buttons found on traditional lederhosen.

The custom ‘C’ shoulder patch is derived from a Germanic style font known as Fraktur. The diamond pattern is a common pattern found at Oktoberfest gatherings. Traditional Oktoberfest diamond patterns are coloured blue and white but the colours on this pattern have been adjusted to match the Cougars’ colours.

The jerseys will be available for purchase via an online auction on the Cougars’ website which begins on Wednesday. Tickets for the Cougars’ “Oktoberfest” night are available now at the TicketsNorth by Treasure Cove Casino box office, or online at
