Gauthier named WHL Goaltender of the Week

The Western Hockey League (WHL) announced today that Prince George Cougars goaltender Taylor Gauthier has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week, for the week ending May 2nd.

The Calgary, AB product was sensational in three games, as he won all three of his starts and posted a 1.33 goals-against average (GAA) and .958 save percentage (SV%) this past week in the RE/MAX Hub Centres.

Gauthier stopped 25 shots on Monday, April 26th, in a 4-1 win over the Victoria Royals. He followed that up with a 27-save performance on Wednesday, April 28th, in the Cougars 5-1 win over the Kamloops Blazers. He capped off the week with a 29-save effort against the Vancouver Giants on Sunday, as the Cougars won 5-2. Highlighting that win was his highlight reel glove save off of the Giants’ Bryce Bader.

The 20-year-old has played in 11 games this season and has five wins, with a 3.10 GAA and .907 SV%. To date, Gauthier has appeared in 148 career WHL regular season games and has a 3.27 GAA and .903 SV%. He has five career shutouts.
