Michael Fogolin Memorial Award: Jack Sander

The 2019-20 Michael Fogolin Memorial Award winner is defenceman Jack Sander. The Michael Fogolin Award is voted on by the players and given to the player who best represents the Cougars on and off the ice.

“Jack totally bought in and he just put it into his mind that he was going to be a great WHL player. Not only was he an impact player on the ice but he had the respect of his teammates, coaches, and support staff. He made huge strides for us this year,” commented Cougars’ General Manager & Head Coach Mark Lamb

In 60 games this season, the 19-year-old set career highs in goals (4), assists (24), and points (28). Sander was signed by the Cougars In the summer of 2017.

Michael Fogolin played 42 games for the Cougars in the 2003-2004 season before passing away suddenly from a suspected heart condition at the age of 17. Michael was the son of former Edmonton Oilers and Buffalo Sabres defenceman Lee Fogolin.

Throughout this week we will be announcing our 2019-2020 award winners. Winners will be announced at and on our social media channels.
