Un-Teddy Bear Toss Sunday, December 2nd

It’s time to unfriend the teddy bear. The Prince George Cougars Hockey Club, in partnership with the Salvation Army and the Northland Auto Group, have put a new spin on the annual Teddy Bear Toss game.

The “Un-Teddy” Bear Toss game is at 2 o’clock on Sunday afternoon against the Victoria Royals.

All fans who attend Sunday afternoon’s game are encouraged to bring warm winter clothes (coats, toques, socks, blankets, and mittens) to the game. When the Cougars score their first goal, you are invited to throw your bagged donations onto the ice! All items will be distributed to people in need over the holidays through the Salvation Army in Prince George.

The Cougars store will also be selling bagged clothing items for the Un-Teddy Bear Toss. Starting at 1 pm.

Vice President of Business, Andy Beesley, says there’s a plan in place so everyone can participate in the Un-Teddy Bear Toss, “No matter where you sit in the CN Centre, you’ll be able to toss your items onto the ice as soon as we score!  Our end zone nets will quickly be pulled up, and everyone can join in the fun. We encourage everyone to put their items in a plastic bag before tossing onto the ice, to keep everything dry and in great shape and ready to be donated.”

There’s also a bonus Prince George Cougars Society 50/50 draw at the game! All tickets purchased on December 2nd, entered into bonus draw. First number drawn will be total of the Dec. 2nd pot.  All numbers will then be re-entered, and the second draw is for the bonus amount of $1,956, from a previous unclaimed 50/50 draw this season.

“The Salvation Army is so grateful to the Prince George Cougars and their fans for supporting our Christmas Hamper program,” said Salvation Army Fundraising Coordinator Bill Glasgow. “Your donations of teddy bears and cold weather clothing are a big part of our Christmas Hampers. Giving hope today to those in need in Prince George.”

It should be a great game as well, as the Victoria Royals are battling the Cougars for second place in the B.C. Division.

Bring your helmet and skates to the game too! There will be a post-game skate with the Cougars immiedatley following the game. Come skate with the team and enjoy some hot refreshments too.

The Cougars are expecting a big turnout and are encouraging fans to buy their tickets early at the TicketsNorth box office, or online at
