Cougars TV spoke to Under-18 AAA Northern Capitals Captain Kiera Mulder about her team’s bid for Kraft Hockeyville 2021.
The contest, which runs nationwide, awards one community $250,000 to be put towards arena upgrades. The competition has five phases, and the “Nominate & Rally” phase, where you can take actions on the site to earn points for your community, ends on February 14th. Then the next is a judging period, then followed by a top four announcement, with the winner being declared on April 10th.
The Capitals are hoping to help upgrade the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena on the Nak’azdli Whut’en territory inĀ Fort St. James, BC. The arena has hosted the BC Winter Classic that last two seasons involving Cariboo Hockey teams. Last year, the Northern Capitals made history, as they and the Vancouver Comets took part in the first women’s outdoor game in Canada.
